Creative Focus: Thinking Outside of the Box (Celeste Pavlik)
Limited Capacity seats available

Celeste is sponsored by Color Inc
http://www.colorincprolab.com/

Canon is the host of this Golden Hour Shooting Experience program.

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/home. Celeste uses a Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 7D and Canon lenses including: 100mm f2.8; 85mm f1.8; 24-70L f2.8.

Expand the possibilities of the way you see through your lens! Join Celeste Pavlik in this Golden Hour Shooting Experience and learn how to incorporate Freelensing, Lensbaby, and/ or Macro work into your genre. Whether the subject is portraiture, landscape, architecture, or street, you will learn what to look for in a scene in order to create the most compelling composition. Celeste will also discuss light and it's impact on your shooting as well as how to set the shot before pressing the shutter. Engage in an open dialogue and conversation with Celeste as you walk around San Antonio while putting into practice one or more of these specialty lenses or techniques. Attendees are encouraged to bring a Lensbaby, Macro, and/or any prime lens between 40mm-85mm range for freelensing. In addition, a neck strap and either a tabletop tripod or tripod for camera stabilization is suggested.

Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss freelensing, macro, and Lensbaby photography with a strong emphasis on using light, form, and shadows.
2. Learn what freelensing is and discuss safety considerations.
3. Learn about Lensbaby lenses, how to manipulate your plane of focus, adjust settings, and how to use live view.
4. Learn about the macro lens, how to use manual focus, and optimal camera settings for macro photography.

This Golden Hour Shooting Experience will take place at La Villita Historic Arts Village (just a short walk from the Marriott Rivercenter). Located on the south bank of the San Antonio River, La Villita Historic Arts Village was one of San Antonio’s first neighborhoods. It was originally a settlement of primitive huts for the Spanish soldiers stationed at the Mission San Antonio de Valero (the Alamo). In 1939, as ground broke on the San Antonio River Walk development, city leaders acted to preserve this colorful part of San Antonio’s history.

Today La Villita is a thriving art community that houses several shops, galleries, and cafes with a wonderful ambiance in the evening. It also gives you great river access at one of the widest points of the beautiful San Antonio Riverwalk. You’ll find several opportunities to capture color — many of the buildings have interesting walls/trim allowing for great framing opportunities and striking color palettes. You’ll likely have the feeling that you are in a small village with the tree- and shop-lined paths.

The beautiful Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard (https://www.sandyoaks.com/) will be the setting for an evening of shooting with a variety of styled models and photography leaders, as well as dinner and time to socialize while strolling the grounds of this beautiful olive orchard ranch. No matter what genre you shoot or where you are on your photography journey, you will cherish this time to put into practice everything that you learned at Click Away, spend time with new and old friends, and shoot styled models in a gorgeous and unique location unlike what most of us get to experience back home.

The schedule and lineup includes styled shooting from 5:30pm-7:30pm (during gorgeous golden hour light!) with the following leaders and model groups:

Senior girl - led by Monica Wilkinson
Mother and daughter - led by Kellie Bieser
Sisters - led by Kristy Dooley

Couple - led by Michelle Turner

Models will be styled to help ensure that you shoot stunning, portfolio quality images that look amazing! The Olive Orchard offers many shooting locations and backdrops to create a variety of imagery, all during stunning golden hour light, so you can walk away with gorgeous, varied, and truly unique photos. After the styled shoot, we'll sit down for dinner, wine, and socializing (which is sure to include new connections, forming of friendships, and lots of laughter!). Food and beverages will include:

- Olive Oil Cake Parfait with pomegranate, strawberry sauce with whipped cream
- Two glasses of Fall Creek Wine (Choice of red or white)

About Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard:
One of the first commercial olive orchards in Texas, Sandy Oaks is 20 minutes south of San Antonio. While best known for the olive trees, olive oil and the various olive oil and olive leaf based skin care products it produces, Sandy Oaks is also celebrated for its emphasis on hospitality and educating the public on the benefits and various uses of olive oil. The main orchard itself covers a 40-acre tract of the ranch, with some 11,000 trees planted among the massive live oaks dotting the property. A nursery holds up to 10,000 or more olive seedlings and shoots at any one time. Sandy stocks the trees to expand her orchard and to sell to others who would like to join in the adventure of growing olive trees.
