Luminous Child Photography: Preserving the Beauty of Early Childhood (Elizabeth Blank)
Limited Capacity seats available

Elizabeth is sponsored by ShootProof
https://www.shootproof.com/

During this program, Elizabeth Blank will delve into the fleeting, blink-of-an-eye world of early childhood and show you how to fully capture the special moments of this stage of life. Children change so very much during the first six years; Elizabeth will discuss the many different ways that you can capture your own children, as well as clients, during this rapid period (as well as some tips for getting even the most irrational two-year-old to cooperate). In addition, she will focus on natural light and the importance it plays in creating memorable, authentic images for this age group. She will wrap up this program with a hands-on photography session with a child model in which you will be able to put your new knowledge to great use in an indoor setting. During this time, Elizabeth will be an open book and happy to answer any questions you might have about fully capturing this precious age group!

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn to identify great light and understand why it is important to utilize flattering light for a young age group.
2. Learn to identify many different opportunities for fully capturing the newborn, infant, toddler and preschool years.
3. Learn to identify when a session is about to result in a meltdown and use different "tools" for getting the session back on track.
4. Gain an understanding of different lenses and how the lens you shoot with dictates what type of image is produced.

Capturing the Essence of Motherhood in Organic Portraits (Leigh Ripps)
Limited Capacity seats available

Canon is the host of this Golden Hour Shooting Experience program.
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/home. Leigh uses a Canon 5D Mark III and Canon lenses including: 50L, 100L, 135L.

Leigh Ripps believes the most important images to have are ones of you with your babies, no matter their age. This Golden Hour Shooting Experience will walk you through a motherhood session using mother and child models; utilizing backlight and natural surroundings to create playful and honest imagery of a mother with her young child. This program will focus on creating images that document natural and organic moments.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn to identify pockets of filtered light ideal for backlighting.
2. Learn about photographing a subject when she is aware of the camera and when she is not aware and be able to differentiate between both styles of shooting.
3. Learn how to set the scene and then shoot the natural interactions that occur as a result.
4. Understand how to choose a lens focal length based on the look and feel of the image that is desired.
5. Learn how to move to different angles and positions to capture the scene from multiple perspectives, allowing variety in your storytelling.

This Golden Hour Shooting Experience will take place at the Alamo (just a short walk from the Marriott Rivercenter). Established in 1724 as Mission San Antonio de Valero – the first mission in San Antonio – the Alamo is known as the "Shrine of Texas Liberty" and is the number one tourist destination in Texas.

The Alamo has two distinct features— the buildings/walls and the lush greenery. Access to the buildings and walls is fairly easy from outside the Alamo itself or at several points inside the gates. The greenery provides full or partial coverage, allowing you to play with the amount of natural light as well as the direction. Even though you’ll be able to see other photographers due to the layout of the Alamo, you’ll find that creative use of the greenery can give a very private, or “Secret Garden,” feel to your images. There are several benches at a number of places within the walls. If you head outside the gates, you’ll find a bigger common area and more bright, unobstructed sunlight. The Alamo has been reserved for Click Away on this evening, so you won't have to work around public visitors if you plan to remain inside the gates near the Alamo gardens.
